Therapy for Teens
Relatable, non-boring therapy for the overwhelming middle/high school years
Therapy for Teens
School, friends, parents, sports, clubs, grades, first jobs, first relationships, planning for your future…. pressure from every direction! Being a teenager isn’t as carefree as it used to be (or as your parents think it is). It’s… a lot. It’s hard to vent to your parents when half of your issues involve them, and your friends just don’t seem to understand or know how to help.
I can help with all kinds of issues you might be running up against in your life, like…
- Social anxiety
- Making big decisions (like college)
- Navigating relationships
- Substance use
- Performance anxiety (school or sports)
- Family difficulties
Ok this all sounds great right? But, you heard from your friend that their sister had a bad experience with therapy. Trust me, I’m different.
Why? Because….
I understand that we need to have an real relationship before you start dishing your life story. I focus on building trust with you first, before diving into the tough stuff.
I might not understand YOU yet, but it’s my goal to get there!
I’m not cold, stuffy, or boring. I’ll talk back to you, I’ll let you swear (and I might let one slip too), I’ll laugh with you, I’ll let you laugh at me, and I’ll talk to you about all your interests.
For the most part- parents don’t know what we talk about (with the exception of certain safety concerns that will be covered in the first session)- unless you give me specific instructions and permission to talk to them. Otherwise, what you say in my office stays in my office!
We can play games, paint, go for a walk, listen to music- anything that makes you feel more comfortable. I’m all about making therapy as relaxed and fun as possible while still addressing your needs and goals
Grab a bag of chips and let’s talk about how frustrating your math teacher is, or how your first date went
Although I might challenge you, I’m your biggest hype woman and I’m all about watching you succeed and celebrating every little win with you.
If this sounds like something you could use in your life- reach out! It can be intimidating, I get that. You can also have your parents reach out if that feels better to you. Either way- I can’t wait to get to know you, and get you back to living your best life.
Questions?
FAQs From Teens
Nope! Unless there are immediate safety concerns for you or another person, everything you tell me stays between us.
You’re always welcome to reach out to schedule an additional session, however, my schedule cannot always accommodate these. I try to respond to emergency calls ASAP (always within 24 hours). If you need immediate crisis assistance, you will be given the 24/7 crisis hotline number for your county.
Topics may change week to week based on what’s happening in your life, or we might talk about the same thing for months! I will help you get to the bottom of the important things that need to be addressed in order to help you reach your goals, while also allowing time to discuss the less serious parts of life (like that TikTok you saw last night).
