For individual & couples therapy (virtual and in person) I take Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and MVP. If you choose not to use your insurance, I charge a rate of $150 per session.

Yes! I am still in the same office, operating the same way as I always have. Vermont Counseling and Training Center is a collective of private practice therapists who all have their own businesses- and Bright Spot is mine!

I currently offer both in-person and virtual therapy for individuals and couples. Please note, my openings for couples are limited!

Therapy is not one size fits all, so what I use will be tailored to what you need! My approach is strengths based and person centered.  I use parts of approaches such as CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), IFS (internal family systems), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), relational, and attachment theory.

Therapy and counseling are used interchangeably to describe medically necessary services provided by individuals who are regulated by the state of Vermont to provide ethical care and maintain educational requirements.

Those who advertise “life coaching” or other types of coaching are not as regulated. Coaches may give a lot of advice, whereas therapists guide you to make your own decisions without giving advice

I cannot guarantee space for additional appointments or last-minute “emergency” appointments. I will do my best to accommodate all requests for extra appointments and to answer all emergency calls within 24 hours. If you need immediate crisis assistance, you will be provided the 24/7 crisis line number for your county. 

Your insurance plan details should tell you what your copay and/or deductible is. If you’re having a hard time deciphering the insurance lingo (we’ve all been there), I can help!

All sessions are approximately 55 minutes long

Topics may change week to week based on what’s happening in your life, or we might talk about the same thing for months! I will help you get to the bottom of the important things that need to be addressed in order to help you reach your goals, while also allowing time to discuss the less serious parts of life (like that TikTok you saw last night).

First sessions can feel scary, I get it! After we go over basic paperwork (that you’ll fill out online prior to the first session) we will spend the first few sessions getting to know each other. I’ll collect A LOT of information about you, and you can collect some about me too. The ball is always in your court, you can pass on certain questions, and you don’t have to go deep right away!

Life happens. If you can’t make our scheduled appointment and you know within 24 hours, please reach out to me to cancel. If you are sick the day of or an emergency comes up, reach out to me and we will cancel or reschedule (time permitting). If you miss your appointment for any other reason and do not reach out to cancel, you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to one full rate session.

There’s no magical therapy timeline that fits everyone. Some get the solutions they need and are out of therapy in several months. Some choose to engage in therapy as a preventative measure and to maintain their mental health for a lifetime! We will work together to continuously monitor your progress and decide what works best for you.

Typically, you’ll see me every week. Once progress is being made, some people choose to go to biweekly appointments, or even monthly. If you’re experiencing something extra challenging, we can meet more than once a week.  Again, this is a decision we can make together as our work progresses!

Absolutely! I have extensive experience working with people who identify as transgender, non binary, lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, and asexual. I also have experience working with those who engage in a polyamorous lifestyle.
